I was born in California and was raised in various parts of Los
Angeles. An artistic family and frequent trips to museums led to an
early exposure to art.
After high school, I studied art at an atelier--Associates in Art in
Sherman Oaks, Ca. For four years I studied under the tutelage of Mark Westermoe and many others. During my
time there I was exposed to and influenced by many artists such as
Nicolai Fechin, John Singer Sargent, and Dean Cornwell. Since then, I
have found further inspiration from the works of Aaron Douglas, Maynard
Dixon, Joaquin Sorolla, and Henry Ossawa Tanner.
After leaving Associates in Art I found inspiration in Plein Air
painting. Subjects of my paintings have been California, Nevada and various
locations throughout the southwest. In addition to landscape painting,
I also paint figures & historical events that explore the struggle and
triumph of subjugated people all over the world.
